How I Built a Faceless YouTube Channel Using Only AI (Step-by-Step )

On average, faceless YouTube creators earn anywhere from $12,000 to $120,000 per year, and the best thing is that you don’t need expensive gear or advanced video editing skills to get started.

I’ve always had a passion for storytelling and sharing knowledge with others.

But there was one major obstacle.

Being on camera always held me back. I never felt comfortable with it—putting on makeup and smiling in front of a lens just didn’t match the lifestyle I imagined for myself. Because of that, I eventually stopped pursuing YouTube altogether… until I discovered YouTube automation.

After watching several videos about it, I realized that building a successful YouTube channel doesn’t necessarily require showing your face anymore. You can now create videos without ever appearing on camera.

At first, it sounded almost too good to be true, so I wanted proof that faceless channels could actually generate real income.

I had an old YouTube channel, but revisiting my first video wasn’t very exciting. The process of writing scripts, creating videos, and adding voiceovers felt overwhelming. I’m not a video editing expert, and hiring editors for every video would have been far too expensive.

However, with the rise of AI tools and faceless content creation, I decided to give it another chance.

If you’re also interested in making money as an AI-powered YouTuber, keep reading to discover a step-by-step guide on how to create a faceless YouTube channel using AI in this blog.

Step 1: Define Niche for Your Faceless AI YouTube Channel

Starting a faceless YouTube channel with AI can feel confusing at the beginning. For me, the idea seemed unclear because I didn’t even know what topic to choose. Most of the videos I used to watch always featured YouTubers appearing on camera, so I wasn’t sure how to approach it differently.

However, I later learned something important about faceless YouTube automation: when choosing your niche, focus on something you genuinely enjoy. It can be any topic you’re passionate about. This makes the process more enjoyable and keeps you motivated, which can ultimately help you succeed.

I didn’t come up with many ideas that I truly liked at first. I wanted something in the tech niche since I graduated in a tech field, and I knew that staying in this area would make it easier for me to generate content ideas.

However, YouTube and Google didn’t really help me much in finding clear directions. That’s when I decided to turn to ChatGPT instead.

If you’re unsure about what niche to choose, you can simply ask ChatGPT. For example, you could say: “Hey ChatGPT, give me 100 faceless YouTube channel ideas about automation.” It will quickly generate plenty of creative ideas to help you start your AI-powered YouTube journey.

I went through the 100 ideas and narrowed them down to just 10. It wasn’t easy, but it was definitely worth the effort. I focused only on ideas that had low competition and matched my interests. That way, I’m not just chasing money—I’m also enjoying the process.

For example, Jensen Tung chose the “facts and trivia” niche after using ChatGPT for his AI YouTube experiments, while Mission To The Loot decided to focus on “horror stories” for his faceless AI channel.

Step 2: Create Your YouTube Bio with ChatGPT and AI Image Generator

My YouTube bio is where I shape my personal brand by highlighting the essentials. To make a strong first impression, I use an eye-catching profile picture, a unique banner (designed with Canva), and a short, clear description. I keep it to just one line that explains what my channel is about—no long paragraphs or unnecessary details.

How to Use ChatGPT to Create Your YouTube Bio Name & Description?

You can use ChatGPT to come up with a channel name and a strong description. I didn’t personally rely on it, but if you’re short on time, it’s a great way to speed up the process.

Before turning to ChatGPT, take a moment to answer a few key questions:
  • What is your AI YouTube channel focused on?
  • What tone fits your brand best—serious or humorous?
  • How can you make your name and description stand out while clearly representing your brand?
I’m confident that ChatGPT can generate some great channel name ideas—just pick one that fits you best. And don’t worry, it’s not a permanent decision. You can always change it later. I personally changed my channel name three times before finally finding the right one, and you’ll get there too.

How to Use an AI Image Generator to Create Your YouTube Bio Pic & Banner?

As a faceless YouTube creator, you’ll need a strong AI image generator like Stable Diffusion or Midjourney to help maintain your anonymity. By simply entering a few descriptive prompts, these tools can produce stunning, original visuals—something that could easily cost hundreds of dollars if done by a professional designer.

For one of my faceless channels, I used Midjourney, while for another faceless, voiceless channel, I relied on Canva. The choice is entirely up to you—just make sure your image stands out and feels unique.

Once you have your image ready, don’t forget to adjust its size using Canva.

And if you’re already using Canva like I did, then you’re all set—no extra steps needed!

Step 3: Use ChatGPT to Write the Script for Your YouTube Video

I’ll be honest—I was never a big fan of scriptwriting. That’s why I leaned toward writing eBooks instead, which I personally find much easier.

I’d like to try scriptwriting someday, but for now, I rely heavily on AI. Writing a blog post draft already takes around 10 minutes, and editing it takes even longer. I just can’t invest that much time into YouTube at the moment since it’s only a side hustle for me.

I just input my script topic into ChatGPT, and it quickly generates an engaging, attention-grabbing script within seconds.

I’ve always preferred detailed, in-depth scripts, so I keep refining them until the tone feels right. My goal is to address a specific problem rather than just present generic, encyclopedia-style content. I make sure each tutorial goes deep enough to answer my viewers’ questions as clearly and thoroughly as possible.

Whenever I’m unsure, I stick to one simple approach.

I look at what my competitors are doing, take inspiration from their work, and then refine and improve my own script based on that.

My first script took me an entire day because I wasn’t yet comfortable using AI. However, I’ve improved since then, and the process is much smoother now.

Also, make sure the information is up to date and always verify the facts before using them.

Step 4: Pick a Voice Generator for Your AI Faceless YouTube Channel

When I produce YouTube videos with high-quality voice-overs, it strengthens my brand image, increases audience engagement, and improves ROI. Thanks to advancements in AI, I no longer have to worry about paying for professional voice-over services. Instead, I can easily use free AI voice-over tools that convert text into speech in any language and tone I need.

Step 5: Generate Visuals with a Faceless AI Video Generator

Most videos today are created using AI, but this also applies to traditional YouTubers. For both types of creators, visuals play a crucial role. In the age of AI, producing high-quality videos has become much more efficient, with a wide range of tools available to make the process easier.

Step 6: Improve Quality with AI Video Enhancer

Note: This is not necessary if you run a faceless or voiceless channel like mine.

Even though there are AI faceless video generators available, I can either improve my existing footage using an AI video upscaler or create videos from text with an AI video generator, then combine different clips together. I’ve only used this method once, and honestly, I didn’t notice much of a difference.

Step 7: Create Video Captions for Your AI YouTube Channel

Most of my videos are voiceless, so I don’t really need captions for them. However, most tools already include an automatic caption feature if you want to use it.

It’s not something necessary for my workflow, and I haven’t used it yet, so I can’t really comment on it.

Step 8: Edit Your Faceless AI YouTube Video & Upload

I used OpenShot to do a final edit of my videos before publishing.

Your AI YouTube channel is nearly ready. The final step is to refine your faceless videos with some proper editing to give them a polished finish.
